South Devon Rural's Ambitious Plans

South Devon Rural Housing Association (SDR) has unveiled ambitious plans to spend over £1, million maintaining and improving its properties over the next four years. Steve Prime, Chief Executive said ‘we can commit to these ambitious spending plans because the association is in a strong financial position following substantial growth over the last few years. We are in a good position to fund these works without recourse to borrowing’. The Board has also approved a development strategy which will see the organisation build up to 40 new affordable homes through its development subsidiary, Rural Homes Limited. The new affordable homes will be built alongside new homes for sale at market value. Profits from market sales will revert back to SDR. Although we are regarded as a small housing association, we have the talent, skills and determination to deliver. Chairman, Rod Hewett said, ‘It is particularly satisfying for me, as I will be stepping down as Chairman this year, to leave a legacy of future growth opportunity, for the incoming Chair. It is due to the hard work of the staff team and the board that we are able to approve such ambitious plans and I have no doubt they will be achieved. I would like to take this opportunity to congratulate the Senior Management Team, Steve Prime CEO, Claire Barnett Finance Director and Operations Director Francis Bourke on their achievements to date.’
