SOUTH DEVON RURAL HOUSING ANNOUNCES NEW CHIEF EXECUTIVE

South Devon Rural Housing Association (SDR) has announced the appointment of Christine Candlish as its new chief executive.

Christine joins the association from Victory Housing Trust in North Norfolk, where she held a number of positions including housing director and, most recently, managing director.

With over 28 years experience in social housing, she has held several strategic and operational roles for social housing providers across the country, including the Hyde Group in London. For the past five years she has also been Chair of the Board of Trustees at North Norfolk Academy Trust.

Christine said, “I am very excited to be joining South Devon Rural Housing. They are a strong, local organisation with a clear resident focus and a long history of helping people in housing need in South Devon. I’m looking forward to working with residents, the staff team, Board and local communities to build on already solid foundations and deliver creative and innovative plans for the future.”

SDR’s chair Roger Hands commented, “I am delighted to welcome Christine to SDR. She brings a wealth of housing experience to the role and is well placed to continue the tremendous work we do to positively improve the lives of our residents and the communities we work in. Christine takes over from our interim CEO, Claire Barnett , who has done sterling, and very much appreciated, work in the period since the retirement of Steve Prime in March and will be reverting to her role as Finance Director after a brief hand-over period.”

Christine will take up her new role in September.
